Sign the Petition!

We at Save the Strip Fondren have posted a petition on iPetitions to support the 1930s Fondren strip that is at the heart of our neighborhood and to speak in opposition to recently published plans by one local developer to demolish the strip and build a massive and monolithic development, called Whitney Place, similar to the Renaissance mall in Madison County.

If you agree that our vibrant Fondren Strip should be saved, head over and read the petition and add your voice! Thank you!

100 New Signatures!

Thanks to the many visitors to the Save the Strip table at last week's Fondren After 5, we are celebrating 100 new signatures on the petition. Yes, not one more, not one less than 100--a mathematical coup!

Several people who had already signed the petition stopped in to say hello. We also met many people who hadn't heard of the threat to the Fondren Strip and were eager to express their support for preserving the Strip as part of any new development. The more we get the word out, the more people realize just how much the Strip means to Fondren and to Jackson

Many friends also just stopped by to sample the spread of food at Wells Cleaners--those meatball sandwiches hit the spot!

We now have 487 signatures on the Save the Strip petition. Let's spread the word and hit the magic 500 soon!
